This research explores the issues and news covered by the English print media for the region of Medak, Telangana, India. It aims to collect information regarding the ongoing developmental issues faced by Medak. This work would act as an initial document to take up the survey regarding the Medak developmental issues. Further, it acts as one of the sources for the triangulation method to be used in order to establish validity of the ongoing research project.
In order to understand the present development scenario of Medak, Telangana, it is found relevant to analyse the media narratives on the Medak. Accordingly, we have taken the top two newspaper publications in India, viz. The Hindu and Times of India (Audit Bureau of Circulations, n.d.). However, in order to capture the narratives of the Medak region, it is important to consider those newspapers which take the highest circulations in Telangana. It was found that The Hindu and Times of India are the two highest circulated English language newspapers in Telangana (Book4ad, 2020). Deccan Chronicle is also one of the top circulating English language newspapers but we omitted it because of its unavailability in the library of ProQuest.
ProQuest library was searched using the keyword “Medak” AND “Development” AND “Telangana.” We found 173 search results. The time period of search results was last three years as of 24 March, 2021. The options included in the publication title filter were
- The Hindu
- Times of India
- Times of India (Online)
The articles were exported in a pdf file for the analysis. The bulk of articles have been divided among the four researchers of ADSCV research team. This is done to reduce the researcher bias.
